Detroit Lions sign Darryl Tapp to one-year deal

While much of the focus has been on Ndamukong Suh, the Lions have quietly re-signed defensive end Darryl Tapp to a one-year deal with a base salary of $870,000 and an $80,000 signing bonus.

Tapp was a pleasant surprise in 2014, his first with the Lions.

He was cut after training camp, but brought back after rookie Kyle Van Noy went on short-term injured reserve.

Tapp can also play inside at defensive tackle and spent much time on special teams.
Tapp, 30,  played in all 16 games last season finishing with 17 tackles, half a sack and two pass defenses.

Earlier on Monday, the Lions announced they will not use the franchise tag on Ndamukong Suh.

Also on Monday, the Lions hosted McNeese State offensive lineman Antoine Everett, their first draft prospect to visit.
