Lions' injury report from Tuesday; Fairley, Follett, Cherilus don't practice

ALLEN PARK — Rookie DT Nick Fairley watched practice Tuesday with his left foot in a boot. Tests are still being done on the first-round pick who injured his foot during a pass-rush drill on Monday.

“(We’re) having a lot of different people look at his stuff. He’s down for now,’’ coach Jim Schwartz said after practice.

The coach said he’s not sure at this point if it’s a short-term or long-term injury.

Fairley had company on the sidelines.

Gosder Cherilus didn’t practice fully for the third straight day. He practiced on Friday, the first day of camp, and then was limited on Saturday.

The starting right tackle is coming off microfracture knee surgery.

“I’d like to see him bounce back, hopefully we can get him back,’’ Schwartz said. “... When you have a guy with a knee, particularly one he’s been rehabbing, you know it’s going to get sore but you don’t want to put him out there when it’s still sore,’’ Schwartz said.

Linebacker Zack Follett who had a good practice on Monday, sat out. Schwartz said it was just day-to-day stuff. Follett is coming off a serious neck injury so he could have gotten rest because it’s the first day the team practiced in full pads.

Running back Maurice Morris injured his left hand during Tuesday’s practice and was not able to finish. Schwartz said he’ll undergo tests.

Rookie Titus Young (leg) and cornerback Alphonso Smith (broken foot) remain out.
