WR Bryant Johnson issues classy good-bye to Lions' fans

The Lions have parted ways with veteran WR Bryant Johnson.

Johnson confirmed the move by tweeting his thanks to the Lions’ fans and everyone involved with the team.

This is not a shocker. Johnson never really seemed to fit in well with the Lions’ receiving corps. After Nate Burleson signed as a free agent a year ago, there was some speculation Johnson would be gone.

Drafting Titus Young in the second round in April made Johnson expendable.

The 30-year-old wide receiver spent two seasons with the Lions. Last year in 14 games he had 18 receptions for 210 yards and no touchdowns. In 2009 he played in all 16 games and finished with 35 catches for 417 yards and three touchdowns.

Johnson also tweeted: “God is with me no matter where I end up. The Lions are headed in the right direction and I wish you all well. God Bless”

A class good-bye.
