Stafford a possibility to play Sunday at Giants

For the first time since his injury Lions QB Matthew Stafford has not been declared out for Sunday’s game on Friday’s injury report.

Stafford had limited practice on Friday, along with WR Calvin Johnson who injured his shoulder on Sunday.

Both of them could be game-day decisions because coach Jim Schwartz did not rule either of them out.

If Stafford is active does that mean he will play?

"We’re probably ahead of ourselves there, just talking about it, but we’ll see Sunday. If he is able to get back, it has shown that he’s right on track and he’s healthy enough to be able to be in a game. But let’s wait until Sunday before we start… let’s not get ahead of ourselves,’’ Schwartz said.

Stafford separated his throwing shoulder in the first half of the opener at Chicago and has not played since.

Backup Shaun Hill has started four straight games and led the Lions to a 44-6 shellacking of the Rams last Sunday.

Schwartz would not announce on Friday if Hill would start, but it seems likely that he will.

The coach said Calvin Johnson has improved every day this week.

"Where he’ll be Sunday we really don’t know right now. But he’s improved every single day so far. He hasn’t had any setbacks,’’ Schwartz said.

Stafford and Calvin Johnson, along with LB Landon Johnson, are officially listed as questionable on the injury report.

RB Jahvid Best, WR Nate Burleson, S Louis Delmas and KR Stefan Logan are listed as probable while LB DeAndre Levy, CB Nathan Vasher and DE Turk McBride are out.
