Five things Lions must do to have chance at beating Giants

The Lions are 10-point underdogs for Sunday’s game at he N.Y. Giants. With a loss they could tie the NFL record with 24 straight road losses, but that is not on their minds. All they are thinking about is a possible two-game win streak heading into the bye week.

Here are five things the Lions must do to beat the Giants:

1. Establish the running game early. The Giants, who have 13 sacks in their last two games, can’t sack the quarterback if they are running the ball.

2. The offensive line must give Shaun Hill plenty of time. They were able to do this last week in the win over the Rams, but the Giants defensive line is bigger, stronger and better.

3. Spread the wealth on offense. Last Sunday Hill connected with five different teammates who each had four receptions. A remarkable stat. If the defense and special teams could pitch in to put points on the scoreboard all the better.

4. The safeties have ton continue their improved play. Louis Delmas has looked more like his old self in the last few weeks, he needs to lead the pack for the defensive backs.

5. The Lions’ defensive line must pressure Eli Manning early and often. This isn’t a stretch, they’ve done it during the first five games.

Prediction: Giants 27, Lions 24.
