Key factor on offense line
While quarterbacks Daunte Culpepper and Matthew Stafford are drawing a lot of attention, their success depends on the quality of the offensive line play.
The contract extension of center Dominic Raiola this week will give the Lions more continuity on the line in the coming years which is crucial. But what about this year?
A key factor will be offensive line coach George Yarno who was brought in from the Tampa Bay Bucs by coach Jim Schwartz.
Yarno, who played in the NFL for 10 years, gets rave reviews from Raiola.
“The first thing I like is that he played the game and played for a long time. He’s come up the ranks through college, he’s been under a great NFL coach in Tampa for a few years,’’ Raiola said. “... I’m excited. We connected right away.’’

I don't think these guys are necessarily doing a bad job, just the WRONG job. That don't seem to realize that the sorts of fans who visit these types of sites and blogs already have the general info (plus a lot more). We know that George Yarno is the O-Line coach. We know who was drafted in April (man, that video was painful). Hell, most of us can name every guy on the active roster for the past 10 years and tell you where each went to school.
I get the feeling that as these writers are familiarizing themselves with this team, that they are attempting to take us along for the ride. Admirable, but they need to recognize that most of us are way ahead of that curve--it's starting to feel like a third grade report on volcanoes, presented to a room full of geologists.
It's June. There is NO football news to report. They're trying. Stop whining.
